Vintage Paths: Proposal

For my project in visual communication I have chosen to make a website for my mother's new business, Vintage Paths. This seemed like a suitable project for me because I wanted to be able to use the resources that Clemson has provided to help my mom create her own entrepreneurship and hopefully accomplish her dream. My vision of this web page includes a subtle coloring scheme, and a calm inviting feel. The web page is going to reflect the way that my mom would design her store. The greatest challenge, of course is that I have to interpret my mom's ideas and depend on her getting me all the information that I need on time. Also, I will have to work in correlation with her to try and find which market base she wants to target, and how she intends to do that. With all of these issues in mind, I will also have to plan out an effective, easily navigated, and aesthetically pleasing web page. So, If I succeed and achieve all of these goals I will certainly accomplish all of my mother's goals for this project. Which are, to portray my mother's dream in an accurate and professional manner; to display internationally, a friendly and helpful business front; and, to create a user friendly web page.
From what I gather, Vintage Paths is going to be a wine bar and art gallery equipped with a cigar bar for the indentured husbands. Ideally, this will be located in Charleston and run like any other business. Further more, It will be marketed solely through this web page and word of mouth. So it is vital that this page is a perfect display of the Vintage Paths image, and sets an example for the customer, of the professional conduct that will be taken by the employees at Vintage Paths.

Dr. George on Poverty

As I read Dr. George's work there are a multitude of questions that run through my mind. However, the one that is most interesting, is that when you are trying to communicate these unplesantries to the world who do you focus your material toward? Do you focus solely on one class or group of people that may have a greater means of helping? Or do you display these horrors to all markets, with out any focus on who may be most important to your cause? Essentially, I want to know is there a market base for charity?

what I look like in 3-D

So, this is what I look like in 3-D. I considered a more out of the ordinary avatar but it seemed that the best way to portray myself online was probably the same way I feel comfortable in reality. So, in keeping with that theme the name I chose for my avatar was Avery, and so far hes doing fine. He is currently looking for a good job, not unlike myself, and he is very interested in traveling to the many different locations that second life has to offer. The virtual reality in this game is very interesting, it is something I have never experienced before. I am really looking forward to seeing how much more I can find along my path inside second life as my avatar encounters the challenges of finding a job, and meeting new people.

Vintage Paths
After allot of deep thought and second guessing I have decided to focus my visual communications project on a website for my mother's fledgling company, Vintage Paths. This website will include a business plan, and hopefuly a hard copy of how to recieve grants from state and national governments. After I recieve the necesary information that my mother wants on her webpage I will set up a couple of hard copys of possible webpage designs. In conclusion I hope this website can be used to broaen My mother's market base and help give her a susessful business venture.

Bryant
A myspace page that would be suitable for my friend Bryant would take an interesting mesh of new England culture and a Clemson University culture shock. As a foundation, his back ground would probably be filled with pictures relating to the New England Patriots, the Clemson Tigers, and other sports related photography. This is of course due to the fact that he is one of the biggest sports buffs I have ever met. building off of this fact, many of the site's characteristics would center around sports and his major, sports management. These photos would preferably be of impressive or infamous plays to help capture the viewer's interest. Also, it may help people that Bryant could relate to recognise they have something in common. Getting past his wallpaper, his site would also contain many humorous videos of the ironic, and more so, the pitiful nature, as Bryant can sometimes have a slightly sadistic sense of humor. However, to counter this impression, I would be certain to include a variety of details in writing and personal photos to display his sincere and generous personality. The site would have a somewhat, colorful nature most likely adopting a sports team's color scheme. His text would reflect his opinions through sports, religion, and politics, containing several anecdotes of his experiences in the south. The end result being a site that clearly displays his interests, personality, and sense of humor, while holding the viewer's interest and displaying accurately who Bryant is.
